PADMASAMBHAVA.

Origin: Tibet.
Date: 17th/18th c.
Technique: Copper bronze with fire gilding and inlaid stones.
Description: Guru Rinpoche sitting in kingly attire at ease, his right leg slightly raised. In this pose, the founder of Buddhism in Tibet is depicted less often. Unlike his usual sitting posture with locked legs, where he holds the vajra in front of his chest, the hand with the vajra scepter now rests on his right knee. In his left hand he holds the long-life vase.
On the back of the lotus base the mantra 'Oh mani padme hum'. Base closed and ritually filled.
Measurement: 275g. H.10.2cm.
Condition A/B.

Provenance:
Collection Emil Ball (1907-2008). Acquired locally in the 1970s-90s.
