PAIR OF SITTING BRONZE ADORANTS.
Origin: Thailand.
Dynasty: Rattanakosin.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Bronze with black lacquer, gilt.
Description: The two monks in kneeling posture with both hands in anjali mudra on three-tiered plinths.
The feet run sideways under the body so that one of the adorants leans slightly to the
left and the other slightly to the right, acting as counterparts.
Measurement: Both ca. 80x37x47cm.
Provenance:
Rhenish corporate collection. Acquired in Bangkok in the early 1970s. A copy of the invoice is available.
