WOODEN BRACKET CLOCK.

Lazarus, Peter. Wien

Date: 1770s.
Technique: Ebonised wooden case, quadruple glazing. Silver-plated bronze, brass, among others.
Description: The tall rectangular case with stepped top rests on winged claw feet. It is glazed on four
sides and has sound outlets with pierced tendril ornamentation in all the spandrels. The
front plate features a silver-plated dial with Roman numbers and Arabic minutes. Above the
VI is the date display and below the XII is the false pendulum. In the upper lunette, the
signature plaque and two auxiliary dials with striking settings. Rectangular day-running
movement with chain and fusee, quarter-hour strike on two bells, pear pendulum and
repeater.
Measurement: 41x27.5x17.5cm.
Mark: On the front and back plates inscr. 'Peter Lazarus Wien', back side additionally No 203 (Peter Lazarus, 1760-1810, Abeler p.339).
