SNUFF BOX WITH UNUSUAL FIGURE STAFFAGE.

Presumably Meissen.
Date: 18th/early 19th century.
Technique: Porcelain, decorated with colors, silver mounting.
Description: Small snuff box with curved body and hinged lid. The wall with blue scale design and
rocaille reserves. The reserves on the lid, the front and back are filled with fine
figural scenes that allude to the Commedia dell'Arte. Some of the groups of figures are
depicted in park-like landscapes, some are wearing masks. On the top there is even a small
dog dressed with a tricorn hat and a patterned coat. On the inside of the lid a (probably)
mythological scene with couple.
Measurement: 5x8x5,5cm.
Mark: Silver mounting marked, presumably Hanau.
