WOODEN MUSEUM CUPBOARD WITH HUNTING SCENE.
Schleswig-Holstein.
Date: Ca. 1760.
Technique: Walnut, king wood, birch, leg amongst others veneered and inlaid, partially gold-plated.
Description: High rectangular body with a cracked pediment and a wide drawer in the base. Pediment and
drawer with female nudes and inlaid foliate scrolls. Pilasters in the centre of the
two-door front and on the chamfered corners. Their gilded capitals with mascarons of a
hunter, the hunting goddess Diana and a wild boar. The curved panels at the top are
finished with gold-plated ornaments. Below, hunting scenes with stag and wild boar hunting
between inlaid trees and framed by fruit festoons and leaf tendrils respectively.
Measurement: 260x182x76cm.
