SMALL WOODEN JEWELLERY BOX WITH GALANT SCENES.
South Germany.
Date: Ca. 1700.
Maker/Designer: Presumably Augsburg.
Technique: Pear tree, silver foil, glass, colourful gouaches on paper, mirror glass and red silk.
Description: Rectangular form with legthwise rectangular glassed casket fields. The framing with finels
carved, geometrical pattern, clad with silver foil. In the rectangular fields delicate
depictions with park landscapes and courtly societies. The underside is covered with
stamped and gilt paper. On the inside with lined with red silk, on the left side a
jewellery retainer lined with green velvet. On the inside of the lid inset mirro.
Measurement: 10x17x12cm.
Large pieces of silver foil flaked off and lost.
