Notation: Monogrammed lower right: Th.H.

Private ownership, Germany.

The small town of Blankenhein near Weimar was the home of the painter Max Oehler, with whom Theodor Hagen was a friend. Together they explored and documented the surrounding area repeatedly. Various landscape scenes by both artists, taken during these excursions, are known.

We thank Gerda Wendermann, Klassik Stiftung Weimar, for the kind support in cataloguing the present work on the basis of a high-resolution digital photograph.
