THREE-PART BRONZE RELIQUIARY IN STUPA FORM.
Origin: Thailand.
Dynasty: Rattanakosin.
Date: 19th c.
Technique: Bronze over black lacquer, gilt.
Description: Stackable reliquary consisting of a wide base, trapezoidal centre section and elongated
triangular top crown. The base has four stairways and a small railing. Overall in the
appearance of a so-called stupa; a burial or worship structure.
Measurement: Height of parts 9.5/26/40cm, assembled 71cm.
Provenance:
Rhenish corporate collection. Acquired in Bangkok in the early 1970s. A copy of the invoice is available.
