LARGE OIL LAMP WITH LIGHT SHADE.
Wohl Rom.
Date: 19th century.
Technique: Silver. Wooden disc screwed into foot.
Description: On a broad round foot with lancet leaf décor, a rod-shaped shaft with urn decoration. The
oil vessel with four flames and the spouts at the front each decorated with a bacchanal
mascaron. A long chain mounted under each of their chins, holding a wick trimmer, snuffer,
cleaning wand and tweezers. On top of the oil vessel an urn-shaped cover. The full-length
shaft at the top ends with a volute ornament. On the top of the shaft a height-adjustable,
cartouche-shaped light shade with a female mascaron attached to an arched support.
Weight: Ca. 4000 (incl. wooden disc on the foot)g.
Measurement: Height 105,5cm.
Mark: Inspection mark indistinct, presumably rome. All pendants and also the lamp original and hallmarked : Vincence Berggrimi Rome 1807-37
