"[...] Stylistically, the portrait can easily be placed in the painter's oeuvre [...] The careful painting of the lace, in which the drawing is scratched into the wet paint with a brush, can be seen as a further characteristic of the artist's style. The costume fits the date 1746 exactly.
The name of the husband of the sitter Francois Matthieu Baron de Vernezobre de Laurieux (1720-1782) is mainly known because of the large palace, which his father of the same name (1690-1748) had built in the Wilhelmstraße at the instigation of King Frederick William I (1737-1739). [...]"
