The first "Migofs" were created around 1961, fantastically proliferating structures with which Bernard Schultze reaches out from the surface of the canvas into the room. These are bizarre hanging objects, disfigured mannequins or expansive installations. "Migof-Mumie-Mannequin" is a fantasy creature created from a former shop window mannequin and openly expresses Schultze's social criticism. The artist questions a standardized and manipulated ideal of beauty through destruction and fantastic proliferation. The gestalt-like color formation moves associatively between growth and decay. Initially, the "Migofs" are small-format sculptural formations that are a mixture of artificial being and natural creature. Later, large-format sculptures found their way into his oeuvre.
