trunks. Each bird with finely crafted plumage and slightly different features.
Weight: Ca. 1645g.
Measurement: Height 29,5cm /29cm.

Thiele, Bruno-Wilhelm: Tafel- und Schausilber des Historismus aus Hanau, Berlin 1992.
In general on the subject of Historicist centrepieces from Hanau silver workshops and
Cat.76 as an example especially for animal figures.
The tradition of decorating the table with exotic animal figurines goes back quite a long time. It is known above all through precious welcome drinking vessels with which a guest was honoured and the hospitality was sealed by sharing a sip. The two expressive parrot figures in this lot were created in the wake of this tradition and are an expression of the need to carry exoticism and splendour into the present day in the form of glamorous silverwork.
