Of the etchings ther are currently only eight copies known of. Amongst these our copy has a very unique story: the artist dispatched it to Euphorion Verlag, Berlin-Charlottenburg for designing his catalogue raisnone volume I for prints. He asked for "Vorlage nach Aufnahme an ihn zurück (zu) geben." ( to recieve the submission back). This happened and so th eetchin was preserved as absolute rarity. Probably the only etching which Krichner equipped wich so many hand written information about the print: "Autotypie", "tiefschwarz die Linien, hell die Grate", "9 cm".
The artist values this sheet. During printing the catalogue raisone he made sure the whole sheet was depicted as "Tafel 37. Ae(tzung) Sich anbietend. Kokotte nach Seite 316." (see illustration)
The first modeling of the appeal was - it could not be different - in his scetch book, here sectch book 37 of 1913 (see illustration). Kirchner then transfered the topic onto the etching at hand and into the two famous paintings: Gordon 364, Museum of Modern Art, New York; Gordon 427, Von der Heydt-Museum, Wuppertal.
