THREE PORCELAIN DESSERT PLATES FROM THE SERVICE OF THE GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAYEVICH OF RUSSIA.
Imperial Porcelain Manufacture. St. Petersburg.
Date: Periode Nicholas I (1848-1855).
Maker/Designer: Model F.G. Solnzew, 1848.
Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colours, golden.
Description: Fyodor Solntsev created an ornamental band decoration that is based on the formal language
of of old Russian enamel work and is coloured red. On the flag, a cartouche with the
imperial double-headed eagle and a cartouche with the monogram of the Grand Duke 'BKKH'
face each other. The ornamentation of the flag continues into the mirror, where it meets
in the centre in a rosette.
Measurement: ø 22cm.
Mark: Manufacture mark: Ligated monogram N I (Cyrillic) under crown, painted blue under the glaze. Var. painter's marks and cameo numbers.
