PORCELAIN FOOT OF A CENTRE PIECE FROM THE SERVICE FOR THE GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAYEVICH.
Imperial Porcelain Manufacture. St. Petersburg.
Date: Period Nicholas I (1848-1855).
Maker/Designer: Model F. G. Solnzew, 1848.
Technique: Porcelain, enriched in colours, golden.
Description: The base of an original two-part centrepiece. The bowl on top is missing. The foot with a broad base and stepped lower section tapering upwards. One small recessed section with eight nodes. A vase-shaped shaft above, on which the original bowl was placed.
The entire base is decorated with ornamental patterns in red, gold and green, reminiscent of Russian enamel work.
Measurement: Height 22cm.
Mark: Indist. manufacture mark: Ligated monogram M I (Cyrillic) under crown, painted blue under the glaze. Two points painted under the blue glaze.
