Eloquent Statements
Those who appreciate jewellery from famous brands are sure to find the perfect piece at the Fine Jewels Spring sale. The offerings are marked by characteristic designs by Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels and through to David Webb. Moreover, timeless diamond jewellery in all shapes continues to be in great demand. A playful floral necklace in particular is enchanting and proof that high-calibre diamonds never lose their lustre.
For its Monete Collection, the legendary Italian brand Bulgari uses antique coins as a central design element. As a result, each piece forms a link between modern jewellery and Roman antiquity. The use of different historical coins lends each creation its unique character. The set being offered consists of a necklace, a bangle and a pair of ear clips, thus at the same time preserving a small part of a cultural heritage (estimate: €25,000–35,000).
The designs by American jewellery designer David Webb are considered courageous statements with a luxurious flair. His clientele has included such celebrities as Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Grace Kelly. A particularly shining example of his distinct creations is the Art-Deco-inspired colour gemstone enamel ear jewellery. The combination of the expressive colours violet and green, in conjunction with the numerous sparkling diamonds and radiant gold, is a special highlight of this auction season (estimate: €6,000–8,000).
The shape of the elegant sapphire diamond ear jewellery from Van Cleef & Arpels is reminiscent of a scallop. The French company with a rich history is known for taking its inspiration from shapes found in nature. As a highlight, a velvety-transparent, light blue sapphire is at the respective centre of the high-calibre ear jewellery from the 1950s (estimate: €12,000–16,000).
At the same time playful and elegant: the floral diamond necklace “Flower” combines these charming properties masterfully. The extraordinary piece of jewellery is set with almost 800 cut diamonds and can alternatively be worn shortened. Thus it is guaranteed to make for a glamorous appearance at festive occasions (estimate: €11,000–16,000).
