HORIZONTAL BRASS TABLE CLOCK.
Wagner, Johann Heinrich. Pirna
Date: Ca. 1700.
Technique: Fire-gilded brass, welded steel, glass amongst others.
Description: Square case with glazed sides on four silver-plated feet in the shape of winged claws
holding a sphere. Mascarons and relief ornamentation on the corners of the case. The
silver-plated chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the alarm disc in the
centre. Small ornamental reliefs with applied shells in the spandrels on the top. Hour and
alarm chime, base bell, verge movement with chain & fusee, 2 engraved barrels for striking
and alarm work, 1 engraved hammer with engraved dog's head, a two-sided hammer, count
wheel for striking work, florally pierced and engraved spindle clamp, silver regulator
disc.
Measurement: 10x11,5x11,5cm.
Mark: Inscr. on the backpanel 'Iojann Heinrich Wagner Pirna' (died 1748, Abeler p.581).
