IRON RECTANGULAR CASKET WITH BIRD DECOR.
South Germany.
Date: Ca. 1600/1650.
Technique: Iron, blackened.
Description: Rectangular body with stepped edges on four small ball feet. Hinged handle on the top, the
keyhole concealed by a narrow, movable band. Etched decoration with rectangular fields on
all sides. In ornamented frames, large birds on blossoming branches. The intricate lock
mechanism in the lid with a heart ornament.
Measurement: 11x17,5x11,5cm.
