The Gropius Bau has an unmissable shape. It looks completely different in every light, at every time of day, night and season, whenever I have painted it. I wouldn't say I'm an impressionist (laughter). The repetition of the same subject shows that things don't have a fixed appearance. It could be that I saw the Gropius Bau early in the morning and realised that it was particularly bright today. This observation can then be the subject of a paper in the studio in the evening. As with many other things, I'm interested in finding out what makes it special through painting.
