LARGE PORCELAIN ALLEGORICAL ENSEMBLE OF THE FOUR SEASONS.
Ludwigsburg.
Date: 1758-1793.
Technique: Porcelain, painted golden and in colours.
Description: On a round rocaille base four figures, each with a putto, as allegories of the seasons.
Winter as a man with fur cap, coat and a putto handing him a wooden scabbard. At his feet
a fire and gourd. Spring sitting behind him as a gallant gentleman with flowerpot, spade
and watering can. Next to him summer as a lady with a sickle and at her feet large bundles
of ears. In her back autumn as a gallant lady with a wine basket. In the centre a large
column with vase ornamentation.
Measurement: Height 22cm, ø 19,5cm.
Mark: Mirror monogram 'CC' as manufacture mark for Ludwigsburg.
