FOUR PORCELAIN PLATES FROM THE SERVICE WITH A "PRUSSIAN-MUSICAL DESIGN" FOR FREDERICK THE GREAT.

Meissen.
Date: Ca. 1761/62.
Maker/Designer: Draft after drawings by Frederick II of Prussia; model presumably F.E. Meyer.
Technique: Porcelain, partially in relief, enriched in colours, golden decorated.
Description: The plates with a twelve-fold lobed rim and gold-toothed rim. Green scale decor below the
rim, followed by six cartouches in flat relief. These with gold-highlighted rocaille
frames and attributes of music, the military and astronomy within. Polychromous flower
bouquets and small butterflies in the centre of each plate.
Measurement: ø 26cm.
Mark: Swords mark, painted blue under glaze. Three plates with embossed number 22, one plate with embossed number 31.
