LARGE PORCELAIN FIGURINE OF A PADUAN ROOSTER.

Meissen.
Maker/Designer: Model J.J. Kaendler, 1732. Moulding 20th century.
Technique: Porcelain, white.
Description: Crowing rooster standing on a bundle of corn.
Measurement: Height 75cm.
Mark: Swordsmark with one grind. Bottom plastered with green filt.


Provenance:
Private collection Rhineland.

Pietsch, Ulrich: Meißner Porzellanplastik von Gottlieb Kirchner und Johann Joachim Kaendler, Munich 2006, comp. p.150, cat.-No.221.

Kaendler also designed the Paduan cock as part of the order for the Japanese Palace. In the inventories of the palace from 1770 and 1779 it reads: "a painted cock on pedestal with ears of corn".
