Kumperger, Philipp. Tittmoning

Date: End 18th century.
Technique: Box mahogany, silver-plated bronze, brass, acromatic glass a.o.
Description: Rectangular box on flattened ball feet. On the corners pilasters with large volutes,
semicircular top and on the four sides small applied branches. Box glazed on three sides,
with hinged door at the front and vertical drawer at the back. At the front large brass
plate with finely pierced and silver-plated ornaments in the spandrels. Centrally above,
the eye of God, also silver-plated, enclosed by a triangle as a symbol of the Trinity and
with a large halo. The eye made of glass and connected to the pendulum by a mechanism and
movable. Silver-plated chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic minuterie. In the
centre an engraved alarm disc with Arabic numerals. The signature at 6 o'clock position.
Between gilded plates with four strong corner pillars, day clock movement with verge
movement, three fixed barrels. Quarter-hour and hourly chimes on two superimposed bells,
pull repeater. Pendulum with thread suspension.
Measurement: 57,5x40,5x19cm.
Mark: Signed on the front plate "Philippus Kumperger Tittmoning".

Another clock by the master Philipp Kumperger is in the foundation collection of the
Deutsches Museum.
