MALE ANATOMICAL MODEL MADE OF IVORY.
South Germany.
Date: 17th century.
Maker/Designer: Circumference Stephan Zick.
Technique: Ivory, wooden box.
Description: Casket-shaped elongated box with beveled corners on four flattened ball feet. Cassette
panels on the outer sides and on the lid. Inside lined with light blue silk. A finely
carved male figurine with long curly hair lying on an ivory cushion. Both arms movable at
the shoulder joints and his left arm resting on his abdomen. The torso cover removable
and under it small individual organs, such as lungs, heart, a kidney, intestines and a
liver.
Measurement: Model length 14cm, box length 23cm.
