CHEST LOCK WITH KEY.
France.
Date: Early 16th c.
Technique: Iron.
Description: Square lock plate with openwork ornamental bands. In the centre, in a three-part field,
the lock cover, which is opened by a hidden latch on the right side, with a small crown
and above it the latch bolt with dragon figure. A pin with a scallop shell inserted on the
front in each corner.
Measurement: 20x16x5cm.
Lock mechanism functional.
Provenance: Lower Rhineland private collection.
